Varvara is originally from Estonia, gained her master degree in digital media from ISNM in Germany and currently is a PhD candidate at the Estonian Art Academy.

Varvara Guljajeva has exhibited her art pieces in a number of international shows and festivals. The artist was selected for the residency at FFKD (Copenhagen, DK), IAMAS (Japan), EMARE (FACT, Liverpool), Crida (Palma, Spain), MU gallery (Eindhoven, NL) and more.

Varvara is concerned about the new forms of art. Thus, she applies and challenges technology and traditional production methods in order to explore novel concepts in art. The artist uses to embed research into her artistic practice. Varvara has presented her research work at Amber Conference in Istanbul, Enter5 Symposium in Prague, ISEA 2011 and more.
